Designed to make your plant-care easier

Quenching your plant's thirst is an art form. But fear not, we're here to help! Our potting soil ensures your soil stays just right, neither too dry nor too wet.

The structure and components of our potting soil hold onto the perfect amount of water for your plants. Less watering worries, more plant pampering!

Full of microbial life

Our soil is bioactive and teeming with microbial life thanks to fresh worm castings.

It can be home to helpful critters like springtails, isopods, and the predatory mite "Macrocheles robustulus" – what awe-inspiring name! Springtails and isopods help convert decomposed matter into nutrients without interfering with the plants. The predatory mites specialize in attacking the eggs, larvae, and pupae of fungus gnats, thrips, and fruit flies. So, it's like having your own personal defense line!

While the soil is being cleared of adult worms, the eggs can still hatch in the soil. WORMS IN MY SOIL? YES! That's a good sign! It signifies incredibly fresh worm castings. Earthworms feast on decaying plant matter, keeping the soil airy and producing fresh nutrients. They also regulate their own population (along with springtails, isopods, and predatory mites). So, once there's no more decaying matter, they'll gradually disappear.

Our commitment to responsible production.

At Sybotanica we not only want to make plants happy, but people happy as well. In our production team we exclusively hire people with a distance from the workforce, and help them rehabilitate to the normal working life.

Take Peter for example:

Peter has been with Sybotanica since the 1st hour, and has now been promoted to head of production & a permanent contract! Where he was the first employee, he now manages a team of 3 production workers.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Peter achieved all this with only 10% visibility! 🕶️ With a few minor adjustments to his working environment, Peter is able to perform his job 100%.

Peter has now been through two moves and knows all the ins & outs of Sybotanica. He can even feel by the potting soil which variety it is. That's quite a challenge with 16 different mixes!

We are confident that Peter will keep production running smoothly in the coming years too! 💪

We don't think peat is so neat!

It becomes too compact over time, leading to a state where it no longer absorbs water.

That's why we opt for coconut fiber and worm castings, keeping your potting soil delightfully airy and usable for much longer. Much more environmentally friendly in its use & less CO2!

Peat-Free Soil That Puts Plants—and the Planet—First

Peat-free soil is no longer optional—it’s essential. At Sybotanica, we’ve made the conscious decision to craft all of our SYBASoil mixes without peat, choosing instead sustainable alternatives that are better for your plants and the planet. Why does it matter? Because peatlands—vital carbon sinks and ecosystems—are being rapidly destroyed. Harvesting peat releases significant amounts of CO₂ and disrupts natural habitats critical to wildlife and biodiversity. Our commitment to peat-free soil means you're not contributing to this damage. Instead, you’re choosing a product that performs exceptionally well while respecting nature. Hand-mixed in our own in-house social workplace, every bag of SYBASoil supports ethical labor, circular production, and environmentally-sound practices. It’s soil that truly grows green—inside and out.

Why Peat-Free Soil Is a Responsible and Powerful Choice

Peat Extraction Is Destroying Natural Ecosystems

Globally, peatlands store twice as much carbon as all the world's forests combined. Yet these vital ecosystems are being stripped to produce traditional potting soil. The result? Massive carbon emissions, habitat destruction, and irreversible ecological damage. By switching to peat-free soil, you’re helping preserve these landscapes and reducing your carbon footprint in a single, simple step. Sybotanica uses no peat—ever. Instead, we rely on materials like coconut coir potting mix, a renewable byproduct of the coconut industry that offers excellent drainage and moisture balance without the environmental cost. The impact is real, and your houseplants won’t notice the difference—but the planet will.

Designed as Soil for Indoor Plants—Without the Guilt

Peat-free doesn’t mean low performance. Our SYBASoil blends are proof. Each mix is expertly formulated to support indoor plant families with the exact texture, airflow, and water retention they need to thrive. Whether you’re repotting a peace lily, Monstera, or fiddle-leaf fig, you’ll get all the benefits of a premium soil for indoor plants—without the ecological harm. And because our soil is formulated plant-specifically, it also makes watering easier, mimics each species’ natural environment, and includes a 180-day organic nutrient boost. In other words, you get all the perks of high-end soil with none of the peat-related problems.

Ethically Produced in Our Own Social Workplace

Supporting People and the Planet

Each batch of SYBASoil is handmade in our in-house social workplace—an environment designed to empower people who face barriers to traditional employment. It’s part of our commitment to people-conscious production: not only is your eco-friendly potting soil great for the earth, it also supports real lives. We believe in doing better at every step of the process, from the materials we use to the way we produce and package our soil. Small-scale, ethical production allows us to maintain the highest standards while keeping our environmental impact low. This isn’t just a product—it’s a movement toward more responsible plant care.

SYBASoil: Premium Peat-Free Soil Without Compromise

Sybotanica’s journey started with plants in a bedroom and has grown into a mission rooted in sustainability, ethics, and science. With peat-free soil at the core of every mix, we’re committed to changing how people care for their plants—without harming the ecosystems they depend on. SYBASoil is light, rich in nutrients, perfectly textured, and always consciously made. When you choose Sybotanica, you choose soil that respects your plants and the planet.

Frequently asked questions

Not sure which mix is right for your plant?

What if my plant is not doing well after using the soil?

We guarantee a 100% satisfaction! Our mission is to help you get happy plants.

If for some reason we fail to do this, just contact us or return your items hassle-free within 30 days.

Not convinced? Check out our Trustpilot reviews.

How much soil do I need?

Check out this pot volume calculator tool to calculate how much Hoya Mix you need.

What are the SYBASoil mixes made of? How can I make my own mixes at home?

On each SYBASoil mix page in the description is a section 'Ingrediënts & recipe', there you can find what any mix contains and how to mix it yourself!

Why is the soil shipped moist?

Our soils are packaged and shipped slightly wet. This is to help ensure the quality of the mix. Most of our soil components need to be slightly wet to maintain their quality.

A good example is our worm castings. Worm castings need to remain slightly wet to ensure all the beneficial soil microfauna stay alive. These microfauna help ensure happy and healthy plants!

When do I need to re-feed the soil?

The nutrients in SYBASoil will run out in ~6 months on average.

Check out our fertiliser line SYBASupport.

How long does SYBASoil stay fresh?

You can store SYBASoil for about 2 years. Make sure to store it cool, dark and closed off.

The effectiveness of the nutrients can degrade over the years. Simply add some fresh worm castings to give the soil new life.

How to recycle SYBASoil packaging?

Our packaging can be recycled at your local plastic recycling facility.

You can also re-use it for storage, or leave a little soil and use it as a propagation box!

Do I need to sterilise SYBASoils?

No, this is something we don't do and generally don't recommend, since most our soil mixes contain worm castings, these provide many beneficial microfauna we like in our soils!

When the soil is sterilized these beneficial microfauna would die. These microfauna ensure healthy and happy plants.

Should I add anything to SYBASoil?

Unless you use the Base Mix, you don't need to add anything. You can always experiment to see what works best for your plant and specific situation!

SYBASoil has 180 days of fertiliser, after that you can try our SYBASupport range.
